IMPI: E-Filling Service

The Mexican Office of Intellectual Property (“IMPI”, in Spanish) announced that as of May 13, 2020 a new E-Filling Service will be enabled. To consult the announcement in Spanish: click here.
This new E-Filling Service will allow on a regular basis (even after the Covid-19 pandemic) to file all type of procedures related to trademarks, such as licence agreements, franchise agreements, trademark assignment agreements, as well as trademark registry opposition procedures. The new E-Filling Service will allow users to file procedures related geographical indications and appellations of origin, among others.
The E-Filling Service is a complementary tool for the IMPI´s online system that already allows to file promotions and applications on a regular basis.
Notwithstanding the latter, both the “Notice regarding the Suspension of Terms and Deadlines” and the “Notice regarding Activities Suspended by IMPI due to Force Majeure”, which announced the suspension of activities, terms and deadlines will remain in effect until May 30, 2020.
